Hi and Happy April!
It’s official: polls are my favorite thing ever. Thank you so much for all of the votes on what I should name my next shitty (book) ex! You all have spoken, so his name is Bradley—and for a little taste of how douchey he is, he doesn’t like nicknames (they aren’t “grown up” to him). Which means he HATES being called Brad… and that he refuses to call our FMC (name currently secret 🤐) by her nickname. Ugh! I hate him already, and I sincerely hope you do, too.
I am a little disappointed that no one successfully guessed the location of my WIP, however. I said it was on an island! There’s another hint in the newsletter! I’ll just have to keep sharing hints until someone catches my drift. If you’d rather be surprised, you can block it out…
All that aside, however… BREAKAWAY releases in ONE! WEEK!
I’m not sure how to feel. Excited, absolutely. Nervous, definitely. I’ve said it many times, but BREAKAWAY is a slice of my soul, and I’ve never enjoyed writing a book more. I truly, truly hope you’re all excited to see it in stores from Avon Books! Some of you have already sent me photos of Cooper & Penny in the wild (sneaking out early!), and I’ve loved every single one. I still can’t believe that my weird little spice coaching, nerdy, bookish hockey romance is going to be available everywhere <333
there’s still time to preorder!
Whether you’re rediscovering Cooper & Penny’s love story through the new Avon Books edition (long, spicy bonus epilogue that used to be a website exclusive included in all editions!) or for the very first time, I can’t wait to share it with you! BREAKAWAY is filled with so many things I love, including:
hockey player x ex-figure skater
friends-with-benefits
spice coaching (with a special ~list~ for them to cross off)
healing from trauma + positive mental health rep
family drama
no third act breakup (you’re welcome 😇)
swapping books with each other + he reads her romance novels
surprise pet parents
…not to mention:
he falls first + hard
he calls her “Red”
praise k!nk / “good girl”
“who did this to you?”
he takes care of her (on her period)
candy as a love language (trust me on this)
Preorder now and submit your receipt to Avon Books to get this exclusive art print by @cozka_art! (US addresses only, unfortunately, but both ebook and paperback formats accepted!)
prefer something extra-special?
The Novel Neighbor still has signed bookplates! Order your copy from this fabulous indie bookstore in St. Louis for the art *and* a hand-signed bookplate!
My publisher (Mother Avon) does a happy dance whenever someone preorders, since they’re a huge indicator of success to trad pubs (a difference from indie publishing that I’m still getting used to). I appreciate each and every one of you for supporting the trad release of this book, and hope you will consider preordering! If enough people preorder, this spicy little ball of hockey smut might hit the USA Today Bestseller list like FIRST DOWN! And I don’t know about you, but that sounds pretty special to me. Fingers crossed!
before we say goodbye ❤️🩹:
Want to hang out with me as I celebrate Cooper & Penny? Join me at Wanderlust Book Boutique in Fort Pierce, FL, on 4/13 @ 3pm for a mini launch party! Order from Wanderlust to reserve your copies. Yes, I will be bringing goodies!
My brain feels like it’s going a million miles a minute (promoting an entire series releasing two months apart while writing a new book and moving will do that to a person, I suppose), so I’m not on social media too much right now, but come hang out with me on Insta and TikTok! I’ve still got fun things in the works :)
Please know that I love and appreciate each and every one of you. You’re the reason that next week, we’ll be able to walk into pretty much any Target in the country and see 450 pages of hockey smut gracing the book section, and I think that’s beautiful. And so would Cooper & Penny ;)
